UK BRC shop price index fell in December
On an annual basis, the BRC shop price index fell 2.00% in the UK, in December. The BRC shop price index had registered a drop of 2.10% in the prior month.
UK construction PMI registered a rise in December
In the UK, the construction PMI recorded a rise to 57.80 in December, higher than market expectations of an advance to 56.00. In the previous month, the construction PMI had recorded a level of 55.30.
German unemployment rate steadied in December
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained steady at 6.30% in Germany, in December, in line with market expectations.
German number of people unemployed declined more than expected in December
The number of people unemployed in Germany eased 14.00 K in December, higher than market expectations for a drop of 8.00 K. In the previous month, the number of people unemployed had registered a revised similar fall.
Italian CPI remained unchanged in December
The flash consumer price index (CPI) remained flat on a monthly basis in December, in Italy, lower than market expectations for an advance of 0.10%. In the previous month, the consumer price index had registered a drop of 0.40%.
Italian EU normalised CPI surprisingly eased in December
The preliminary EU normalised CPI registered an unexpected drop of 0.10% on a monthly basis in Italy, in December, less than market expectations for an advance of 0.20%. In the prior month, the EU normalised consumer price index had fallen 0.50%.
Number of people unemployed in Spain recorded a drop in December
The number of people unemployed in Spain recorded a drop of 55.80 K in December, following a fall of 27.10 K in the previous month. Markets were anticipating number of people unemployed to fall 50.00 K.
US Redbook index dropped in the last week
The seasonally adjusted Redbook index in the US fell 0.30% on a MoM basis, in the week ended 01 January 2016. In the prior week, the Redbook index had dropped 0.50%.
US Redbook index recorded a rise in the last week
The Redbook index in the US rose 2.90% on an annual basis, in the week ended 01 January 2016. In the previous week, the Redbook index had risen 2.50%.
US New York City current business condition index advanced in December
Compared to a level of 60.70 in the prior month the New York City current business condition index rose to a level of 62.00 in the US, in December.
Canadian raw material price index declined more than expected in November
In November, on a monthly basis, the raw material price index in Canada slid 4.00%, higher than market expectations for a fall of 2.50%. The raw material price index had recorded a revised flat reading in the previous month.
Canadian industrial product price index recorded an unexpected drop in November
The industrial product price index unexpectedly eased 0.20% on a MoM basis in Canada, in November, less than market expectations for a rise of 0.10%. In the prior month, the industrial product price index had fallen 0.50%.
Japanese Markit composite PMI fell in December
Markit composite PMI registered a drop to 52.20 in December, in Japan, compared to a reading of 52.30 in the prior month.
Japanese vehicle sales advanced in December
In December, on a YoY basis, vehicle sales advanced 3.10% in Japan. Vehicle sales had advanced 0.30% in the previous month.
Chinese Caixin composite PMI declined in December
Compared to a level of 50.50 in the previous month Caixin composite PMI recorded a drop to 49.40 in China, in December.
Chinese Caixin/Markit services PMI index registered a drop in December
In China, the Caixin/Markit services PMI index dropped to 50.20 in December, compared to a level of 51.20 in the prior month.
