UK BBA mortgage approvals recorded a rise in January

In the UK, BBA mortgage approvals advanced to 47.51 K in January, higher than market expectations of a rise to 44.80 K. BBA mortgage approvals had recorded a revised reading of 43.66 K in the previous month.

UK CBI distributive trade survey’s retail sales balance registered a decline in February

The CBI distributive trade survey’s retail sales balance registered a drop to 10.00% in February, in the UK, compared to market expectations of a fall to a level of 12.00%. In the prior month, the CBI distributive trade survey’s retail sales balance had registered a level of 16.00%.

French consumer confidence recorded a surprise drop in February

Consumer confidence in France fell unexpectedly to 95.00 in February, compared to market expectations of an unchanged reading. In the previous month, consumer confidence had registered a level of 97.00.

Italian industrial orders climbed in December

On an annual basis, the non-seasonally adjusted industrial orders rose 1.50% in December, in Italy. In the prior month, industrial orders had registered a rise of 12.10%.

Italian industrial orders recorded a drop in December

On a MoM basis, the seasonally adjusted industrial orders slid 2.80% in Italy, in December. Industrial orders had registered a revised rise of 1.50% in the prior month.

Italian industrial sales declined in December

On a monthly basis, the seasonally adjusted industrial sales in Italy registered a drop of 1.60% in December. In the prior month, industrial sales had registered a drop of 1.10%.

Italian industrial sales dropped in December

On an annual basis, the non-seasonally adjusted industrial sales dropped 3.00% in Italy, in December. In the previous month, industrial sales had risen 0.80%.

Swiss UBS consumption indicator recorded a rise in January

In Switzerland, UBS consumption indicator recorded a rise to 1.66 in January, compared to a revised level of 1.61 in the prior month.

US Markit composite PMI declined in February

In February, the preliminary Markit composite PMI dropped to 50.10 in the US, compared to a level of 53.20 in the prior month.

US Markit services PMI registered a surprise drop in February

The flash Markit services PMI dropped unexpectedly to 49.80 in February, in the US, compared to market expectations of a rise to a level of 53.50. In the previous month, Markit services PMI had recorded a level of 53.20.

US new home sales eased in January

In January, new home sales in the US dropped 9.20%, on monthly basis, to a level of 494.00 K, compared to market expectations of 520.00 K. New home sales had registered a revised level of 544.00 K in the previous month.

US mortgage applications registered a drop in the last week

Mortgage applications in the US fell 4.30% in the week ended 19 February 2016 on a weekly basis. Mortgage applications had climbed 8.20% in the prior week.

Japanese leading economic index eased in December

The final leading economic index dropped to 102.10 in Japan, in December. In the previous month, the leading economic index had recorded a level of 103.50. The preliminary figures had recorded a fall to 102.00.

Japanese small business confidence index registered an unexpected rise in February

In February, the small business confidence index registered an unexpected rise to 47.90 in Japan, compared to a level of 47.20 in the prior month. Market expectation was for the small business confidence index to drop to 47.10.

Japanese coincident index registered a drop in December

The final coincident index eased to 110.90 in December, in Japan. The coincident index had registered a level of 111.90 in the prior month. The preliminary figures had recorded a drop to 111.20.

Foreign investors remained net buyers of Japanese bonds in the previous week

Foreign investors remained net buyers of ¥664.10 billion worth of Japanese bonds in the week ended 19 February 2016, as compared to being net buyers of ¥1146.50 billion worth of Japanese bonds in the prior week.

Japanese investors remained net buyers of foreign stocks in the previous week

Japanese investors were net buyers of ¥449.20 billion worth of foreign stocks in the week ended 19 February 2016, as compared to being net buyers of ¥81.80 billion worth of foreign stocks in the prior week.

Foreign investors remained net sellers of Japanese stocks in the previous week

Foreign investors remained net sellers of ¥441.00 billion worth of Japanese stocks in the week ended 19 February 2016, from being net sellers of a revised ¥562.50 billion worth of Japanese stocks in the previous week.

Japanese investors turned net buyers of foreign bonds in the previous week

Japanese investors turned net buyers of ¥1974.30 billion worth of foreign bonds in the week ended 19 February 2016, from being net sellers of a revised ¥1315.20 billion worth of foreign bonds in the prior week.
